Debut EP recording underway

26th June 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Kiss Me, Killer are hard at work recording our very first EP release.

The as yet unnamed EP will included some of our favourite original songs and those that go down particularly well live. People have been asking us if we have ‘any music online/for purchase’ so it was about time to commit some out our compositions to tape, well, hard drive.

Singer Holly laid down some scratch vocals for the drum tracking.
The track listing is yet to be finalised by the the title track will likely be, Snakes, a recent song which, if you had to describe it, combines primitive metal and old school hardcore punk. Eponymous song Kiss Me, Killer, Cat-penned celtic stomper Och Aye, the pacy psych-punk of Snooker, the beefy From the Inside and It’s Going Down are all likely candidates for the release – although there may be a couple of of bonuses tracks too! Depends how well we do…

The band is taking a zero-budget, completely DIY approach to recording the EP, although between us we have some experience, some decent recording gear or can have a lend of some. For example, this week our drummer AJ was laying down drumtacks at her Dad’s well-equipped home studio in the wilds of Cornwall, to some scratch tracks prepped by bassist Nat here in Bristol. The next step is to lay down guitar and bass parts, which David and Nat will do at home, before moving on to vocals and final mixing.

These days, with computers and Digital Audio Workstations (DAW), it’s simpler than ever to tweak and manipulate recorded material to ‘perfection’ so we’re going to be mindful to retain the great rawness of Kiss Me, Killer, not do endless takes, overdubs, fixes, and edits.

We’re expecting to get the whole thing done by the end of July and it will be released on limited quantities of CDs, available as high-resoluton download via this website, as well as distributed to all the major music platforms included iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Music, etc.

We’ll post some updates on the recording process so stay tuned.
