Kiss Me, Killer interviewed on Chips and Beans Podcast

5th November 2017 By Davidkmk 1 Comment

Holly, AJ and David hit the home studio of Bridget and Cassie to record Kiss Me, Killer’s first ever taped interview.

The new podcast is titled Chips and Beans: A Punk Rock Podcast with Cassie and Bridget and the first episode took on power structures and hierarchies in DIY punk scenes – from sexual assault, to individual power, to promoters and sound engineers.

Thanks @beehartyeah and @sweetbitterlemon for a lovely evening listening to our rambles and providing tea and biscuits! #podcast #punk #punkrock #riotgrrrl #bands #gigs #kissmekiller #diypunk #feminism #Repost @beehartyeah (@get_repost) ・・・ Had a wonderful evening chatting with @kissmekillerband for #Chips&BeansPodcast with @sweetbitterlemon πŸ–€ first episode out 5th Nov! https://m.soundcloud.com/user-535636211

Bridget is a poet who played base in Bristol punk outfit, Viva Zapata! and recently formed acoustic folk-punk duo, Violet Scott & Amelia Bones, who will be playing our EP Launch Party on 10 November at The Chelsea Inn. In fact, we think it’s their first gig.

Cassie fronts in the might riot grrrl band Fight, Rosa, Fight! who have played right across the UK and also plays in Worst Witch. She also writes for UK online music magazine, Louder Than War.

Holly providing insights into her experiences as a woman on the DIY punk scene

The second half of the podcast feature Kiss Me, Killer talking about about their debut EP and discussing their experience on the punk scene. Drummer AJ gave an assured, competent media-savvy performance and Holly provided insight into her creative processes. David piped up with some tortuous analogy about radar dishes. All in all though it went well and I hope you enjoy listening it.

As a special treat there’s a nearly-final version of our song Snakes, which will feature on the EP.

Custard’s Punk bring Think Pretty, Super Secret Club and Salt Bath to Chelsea Inn

17th September 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Local Bristol promoters Custards’s Punk (yeah, Custard Spunk) brought a great bill to the Chelsea Inn, Easton, Bristol on 25 August.

First up came the riotous Salt Bath from the South Wales scene that’s spawning some excellent original bands for their first international gig, before Plymouth popunk exponets Super Secret Club tore if up with some swaggering tunes.

Welsh two-piece Think Pretty were up next with some down and dirty grungey rock’n’roll thrills truly impressed. A band I’d love to catch again.

KMK must’ve been away with the fairies as although we powered through our set with all-conquering verve we managed to complete forget to play Snakes, THE tracks from our forthcoming EP. Ah well… The Chelsea let us play it anyway, even though we were a bit past curfew.

Festival action at Griffstock 2017

1st September 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

27 August saw the band play our first festival: Griffstock 2017, near Stroud, Gloucestershire.

2/5 of the band – David, Cat and friends – made it up the day before and were able to check out some legendary bands. West Country anarcho-punk legends A-heads and, in the evening, the searing dub of Dub the Earth and quintessential festival outfit, Radical Dance Faction. Proper rave action – some people were well spun out.

The rest of the band joined us on the Sunday. Despite a bit of tuning issues (I guess guitars, like dogs, don’t being stick in like hot vans) we managed to play our set well enough. Sadly, I’d forgotten to remove my fetching toddler-style sunhat, which left me looking like someone ‘having it large’ in Manchester circa 1990. But, sod it, we’re not a fashion band.

Cheri was on hand again on photography duty. Check these out…
