New Kiss Me, Killer lineup hit’s The Plough Inn, Easton

10th June 2019 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Finally! The new Kiss Me, Killer lineup stormed the stage at The Plough Inn, Easton after a long hiatus. If you haven’t followed us on Facebook, Cat, previously our backing singer and rhythm guitarist, has taken over lead vocal duties. And brilliant she sounds too.

The Plough gig was put on by promoters Bristol Skum Collective – a new outfit but one that enjoys the involvement of punk scene stalwarts – in support of homelessness charity, Crisis.

New look Kiss Me, Killer at The Plough Inn, Easton

KMK’s new and reworked songs went down a treat, with Gentrification and Megabus seeming to go down well, and we felt very tight as a unit. As well as the lineup changes we played around with style and sounds, David giving the Gordon Smith a rest for a bit and sporting a tremolo-equipped Strat to add a new dimension and Nat now choosing to use his classic Rickenbacker bass, with really helped his propulsive baselines jump out. Cat gave an assured performance and the overall feedback was great, with some really liking the new sound and lineup.

Two piece punk rock outfit 51st State and Bristol music legend Rita Lynch played storming sets. The night raised £220 for the homeless.

Not a bad return to he gigging scene then!

LadiesNight at Bristol’s Red Lion Pub raises over £400 for women’s charities

23rd February 2018 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Kiss Me, killer played their first hometown gig for the year and it was for a couple of great causes.

The ‘LADIES NIGHT’ event presented ‘female-led lineups of badass punk/rave/cheese sounds’ to raise money for charities helping women. The event raised over £408 with proceeds going o Unseen Uk and One25. Unseen UK are based in Bristol and work directly with the survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. One25 is a compassionate and non-judgemental service to women trapped in or vulnerable to street sex-work, supporting them to break free and build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction.

Cheri Clouds was on hand with her camera. Check out the images:

Incendiary riot grrrl action rocks the Red Lion.

A dancing Red Lion crowd loved Kiss Me, killer
The relentless riffage of David, Cat an Nat baked AJ’s thumping beats.
The extended set featured pretty much out entire repertoire of brustil punk rock.

‘Tough titties’ – badass frontwoman Holly.
AJ the drummer,
David with his famous pink Gordon Smith GS1 – AKA ‘Barbie’ and Cat.

What a great night in aid of two great causes.

Other bands o the bill were the mighty punk-rock-ska outfit Dive, who have returned to the scene after a 15-year hiatus and FFTP a well known local duo who provide anarchic folk.Pumped by the bands people stayed to dance the night away to a top lineup of local DJs.

KMK were on song with a moshing crowd matching other great gigs we’ve played at BS5’s iconic live music pub, with newish song Tear your Heart Out reaching Bristol ears for the first time.

They wrapped melodies round spiky lumps of noise, then weaved round them tales of joy and confusion, laughter and fear, people gone bad and the dead come good. They stacked them in their dear van and brought them blinking in to the sunlight. And so here we are, we offer you our songs played with gusto, and not a little cider. Holly KMK brings Pizza Tramp to The Chelsea, Easton

21st October 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

As well as providing serious vocal power for Kiss Me, Killer Holly’s been putting on gigs as Kiss Me Promotions. She brought Pizza Tramp to The Chelsea, Easton on 20 October and it was mental.

Local heroes Lesser Known Character open proceedings with their take on powerful pop punk before Chris Fishlock’s legendary Pokemon Liberation Army entertained a growing crowd. Welsh outfit Gung-Ho’s brutal grunge punk increased the volume before headliners Pizza Tramp sent the room absolutely chaotic.

The gig featured on of the best punk bill posters I’ve seen in ages, thanks to Kiss Me, Killer drummer and illustrator, AJ. Sound was great too thanks to the involvement of Chris from Carnival Punks.

Pizza Tramp
One of AJ’s eye-poppin’ posters

Keep an eye on Holly’s Kiss Me Promotions page on Facebook for forthcoming gigs. The next one features surf noir exponents The SinicTones, which features Kiss Me, Killer bassist Nat on vocals and guitar.
