St Punk Rock’s Day, Stag and Hounds

21st March 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

17 March (St Patrick’s Day) saw Kiss Me, Killer make their Stag and Hounds debut. The gig, dubbed ‘St Punk’s Day’, saw the band playing their gnarly primal sounds alongside local pop punk exponents Lesser Known Character and Running From Zombies.

Punters who had escaped hoards of plastic Paddies in the town centre were treated to a cracking show. Lesser Known Character really tore it up with the band’s guitarist Nick wasting no time in customising his axe with a KMK sticker.

Our song Radical Notions seemed to get ’em going, as did Cat’s celtic-flavoured stomper Ock Aye!, which was making its live debut. Do You Want Me on Your Knees?, the only cover in the set just now, sounded really massive.

Sadly, due to the usual financial bollocks, the legendary Stag and Hounds, Old Market will be closing under its current management at the end of May. So our debut’s also our last show there. Perhaps the Stag will continue as a live music venue but much more likely some sort of gentrified hipster hangout will be its fate.

Cheri, a top local embroidery artist and honorary band member, was on hand to document the show with some winning photos. Cheri also captured us bashing out Do you want me on my knees? on her phone.

If you missed it, don’t worry, there are more gigs coming up. Like us on Facebook for the latest.

KMK’s Holly takes the stage at Bristol’s O2

1st March 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Kiss Me, Killer’s lead vocalist Holly surprised crowds at Bristol’s O2 venue when she got onstage with Masked Intruder (who?–David).

When the band started looking for someone in the audience to join them to sing along with one of their popular tunes, Holly’s mates all pointed at her shrieking: ‘She’s in a band! She’s a singer in a band!’

Masked Intruder Bristol

Like the champ she is Holly rose to the occasion, got waved through by the security heavies, and grabbed the microphone like a star:

“I was abolsutely… absolutely blown away!’ said Hols. “Loved being on a big stage, albeit it improvised, nerve racking and I froze for a whole verse (tit 🙄).”

Bristol’s O2 venue is known for hosting some of the bigger touring acts and for the muffled, dismal sound that makes you feel like you’re listening to the band from the next room.

Punk rock DIY merch… stickers, badges, patches

26th February 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

The band have come up with their fist few bits of merch, which we’ll have available at our first few gigs.

First up, AJ the drummer stencilled some punk-as-hell DIY patches. David printed up some stickers and his daughters got to worker with their badge press making a variety of pin badges – the leopard print ones seemed to be a firm favourite with people.

Kiss Me, Killer hit The Chelsea, Easton with Carnival Punks

11th February 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Kiss Me, Killer got off the mark as a gigging machine at The Chelsea Inn on 10 February 2017, supporting the riotous Soviet-styled boogie punks, Chernobyl Boogie.

The gig presented by our friends the Carnival Punks went down a storm with the band and fellow locals Trees of Rage warming up a packed Chelsea crowd for the headliners.

Never shy to promote a bit of inconspicuous consumption we’d knocked up three little bits of merch DIY-style, including DIY stickers by David, pin badges mostly crafted up by David’s young daughters and some hot hand-made patches by AJ the drummer.

We remembered most of the songs, improvising over the glitches like troopers, got a lot of love from the audience and were immediately offered another gig. Result!

Legendary local music ‘tog Meg Manley was there too and snapped some beautiful images. There’s one on this page and you can see more over on her Facebook page.

Not a bad first night’s work…

New rehearsal recording on YouTube

30th January 2017 By Davidkmk Leave a Comment

Our guitarist and vocalist Cat sorts out her lyrics at our live recording session.

Here’s another rough rehearsal recording for you: From the Inside.

It’s one of our shorter songs and one of the heavier ones. Guitars didn’t record too well but you hopefully get a flavour.

David decided vintage keep fit videos and monster trucks seemed to work well with the sounds and lyric.

It was recorded 100% live in the rehearsal space at Room4 Studios, St George, Bristol with a bunch of mics placed here and there. Room4 is a a really nice place to practice, much more salubrious than most. Check them out.
